Shop Benkelman Night is Tonight!!!!!!! Coyote Country Live Starting at 2:30PM

     All of the Shop Benkelman Night businesses are stocked to the brim. They are anxiously waiting for the shoppers to come in. It’s time for the fifth annual Shop Benkelman Night this Thursday, you see. So, bundle up and come out for cookies, hot chocolate, soup and shop local. If you are lucky you may also win money and more. So don’t be a Scrooge or a Grinch this season and Shop Benkelman December 5.
          Participating Benkelman businesses have each donated $50 gift certificates/gift cards that will be put into a special drawing Dec. 5 at 8:00 pm at the Dundy County Senior Center. Participating businesses include: The Weight Buffet, MNB Insurance, Dundy County Processors, Seize the Daisy, Grace Market, Benkelman Post, Rose Grove, Lamp Post 613, Scrapbook Heaven, Owens Ace Hardware, Skyline Grill, Pinnacle Bank, The Liquor Store and the Benkelman Pharmacy.
     To enter into the drawing, shop at participating Benkelman businesses between 4 pm and 7:30pm this Thursday. For every $10 the shopper spends at a business, they will receive a specially marked “Santa Buck Raffle Ticket. Drop the tickets into the drawing box located at the Dundy County Senior Center by 8:00pm. There will be a drawing for each donated gift certificate. You must be present to win.
The annual Chamber Benkelman Christmas celebration will take place on Saturday, December 21.
The Randy Hudson Memorial Ping Pong Ball Blast will get the Benkelman Christmas celebration started at 10:00am .
Next up in the festivities is the annual gift drawing at 11am. The two age categories are youth (seventh through 12th grade) and adults.
Thousands of Santa Bucks are churned up in big plastic bags and randomly drawn for many gifts. Santa Bucks are earned by shopping at participating merchants. For every $5.00 purchase, a shopper earns one Santa Buck. Shoppers write their names on the back of the coupon and deposit it in a collection container at the businesses or at the Benkelman Post.
Following a break for lunch, it’s time for the Kids Christmas Movie at the Zorn Theatre. This year’s movie is Toy Story 4, it will start at 1:00pm. Santa Claus will be waiting in the lobby for the children as they exit the theatre after the movie.
The Chamber is also sponsoring a Christmas Lighting Contest. No registration needed. Prizes: 1st Place: $75.00, 2nd Place: $50.00, and 3rd Place: $25.00.
The public is invited to enjoy an evening of Christmas Spirit on Friday, Dec. 20. The Benkelman Spirit Bus will drive through Benkelman and nearby rural areas to take people on a Christmas Light tour. Free will donation to help with fuel costs. If you would like to see the holiday lights, the bus will load on the north end of Chief Street near the courthouse at 6:30PM. The lighting contest judging will take place on the bus. If you live outside Benkelman call the Benkelman Post Newspaper office at 423-2337 to have your lights viewed and judged.
