Even Santa Celebrated Shop Benkelman Night

     Holiday music filled the air and Chief Street was lined with cars for the fifth annual Dundy County Chamber of Commerce Shop Benkelman Night on Thursday evening.
P     articipating Benkelman businesses each donated $50 gift certificates/gift cards that were put into a special drawing at 8PM. Shoppers received special Shop Benkelman Night Santa Bucks by shopping at the participating businesses between 4PM and 7:30PM. Participating businesses include: The Weight Buffet, MNB Insurance, Dundy County Processors, Seize the Daisy, Grace Market, Benkelman Post, Rose Grove, Lamp Post 613, Scrapbook Heaven, Owens Ace Hardware, Skyline Grill, Pinnacle Bank, The Liquor Store and the Benkelman Pharmacy.
     The more you shopped, the better chance you had to win one of the gift certificates at the drawing. You could win more than one gift certificate. A large crowd attended the drawing at the Dundy County Senior Center and a total of nine people won the 14 gift certificates.

Prior to the start of the drawing, Jason Frederick, President of the Dundy County Chamber of Commerce thanked everyone for supporting the local businesses during the holiday season and the rest of the year. He also thanked the 14 businesses for participating in the event and providing the gift certificates for the drawing. The Chamber of Commerce gave $25 to each business to help cover some expense in participating. Frederick thanked the Dundy County Senior Center for hosting the drawing and having a soup supper. He also recognized the group of Christmas carolers that went from business to business in downtown Benkelman.
