Memorial Day Services

Benkelman – The Benkelman American Legion will host a shortened Memorial Day Service on Monday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the site of the Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Dundy County Courthouse. There will be no service at the cemetery.
People are asked to abide by social distancing guidelines and can even stay in their vehicles.
The American Legion will not be raising flags on the flag poles at the cemetery. They are inviting families who want raise a flag in a family member’s honor over a grave to pick up the flags between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Monday. The American Legion will be placing the small flags on the grave sites of veterans.

 

Culbertson  – Memorial Day services will be held Monday, May 25, 2020 at the Culbertson Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. Featured speaker will be Tami Moore, McCook and a Culbertson native.
In following the Covid 19 requirements, the firemen will raise flags at 7:00 A.M. (weather permitting) on the 25th. They will lower them at 5:00 P. M.
The ceremony will include the color guard, posting of the wreath, and a speaker. The speakers voice will be projected from the fire truck’s microphone. Everyone is asked to remain in their cars in order to follow the Covid 19 requirements. You are asked to park single file so other cars can pass by safely.
There will not be a dinner following the ceremony this year.

 

Stratton – The Memorial Day program which is normally held at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Stratton will not happen this year due to the virus. There WILL be a short ceremony at the cemetery at 10:00 a.m. A limited number of flags will be put up and outside assistance from the community will not be needed. Please follow the social distancing recommendations.
