DCS Gets First Round Win
The DCS Tigers Football team won their first round Class D2 playoff football game in Benkelman against Elm Creek 38 to 6 Thursday.
The Tigers move on the second round where they are seeded #3. The 16 teams that won their round games were reseeded for the rest of the playoffs based on their wildcard points. The top four teams are #1-Johnson Brock, #2-Wynot, #3-DCS, and #4-South Loup. The #3 Tigers will host #14 Twin Loup in the second round in Benkelman on Friday.
Twin Loup defeated Hitchcock County in their first round exciting game in Sargent on Thursday night. The Falcons were down by 20-points in the second quarter and came back to get to within 6-points in the final quarter. However, they were unable to complete to comeback and lost 40 to 28. Hitchcock County battled and made a valiant effort and will bring back a talented group of players next season.
The Tigers got another great game on defense in their first round win against Elm Creek, who had a much better team then their seeding or 3 and 5 record. DCS held the Buffaloes out of the end zone until the fourth quarter. On offense, DCS used a balanced attack to build their lead and then leaned on the running game with sophomore Ethan Latta and good blocking on the offensive line to wear the Buffaloes down in the second half.
