DCS Homegrown Harmonies Competes at GINW Gold Rush Show Choir Event

Fourteen teams, hundreds of spectators, and one small but mighty group making a big impression on the stage.  Homegrown Harmonies, Dundy County-Stratton’s High School Show Choir, competed in the Grand Island Northwest Gold Rush Show Choir Invitational on Saturday, February 3rd. Homegrown Harmonies, which consists of 7 students, competed against Class A and B high schools from Omaha, Gretna, Bellevue, Lincoln, Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney.  The average show choirs at this event consisted of 40-60 performers per choir, full band accompaniment, stage backdrops and props, and special lighting effects.   Despite the stiff competition, Homegrown Harmonies won the hearts of the judges and audience.  Judges and spectators alike complimented the group on their big sound, vocal harmonies and their enthusiastic performance.   Two Outstanding Vocalist trophies were awarded at the Daytime Awards Ceremony.  We are very proud of Alyssa Stamm, who received one of the coveted Outstanding Vocalist trophies for her show opening solo in “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.”   If you happen to see a Homegrown Harmonies show choir member out and about, be sure to congratulate them on a job well done! Show Choir members include August Miller–Senior;  Klayton Rinne, Leslie Gomez, and Austin Cole– Juniors;  Alyssa Stamm, Kennedy Bailey, and Haley Ladenburger–Sophomores.   The next competition will be the NCDA Show Choir Festival held at Chase County High School on Monday, February 12th.
