Saturday Night Dinner and Dance At Weight Buffet Features Benkelman Native

The Weight Buffet will welcome home Benkelman Native, Steve Main and the Bases Loaded Band this weekend for its Valentines Day event.

Bases Loaded, one of the best variety dance bands you will ever hear, is coming to Benkelman Saturday Night to the Weight Buffet Valentines Event.

Their emphasis is on strong 3-part vocal harmonies and with both male and female lead singers they can cover anything from George Strait and the Eagles to the Doobie Brothers and Journey.

Steve begain his career in Benkelman when he first appeared on stage at age seven playing guitar with his father, Johnny Main as part of ‘Country Music Benkelman’. At age 13, he began playing drums at the North Platte Eagles Club in the Country String-a-Longs Band with his father, John Main. Since then, he has performed with numerous bands in Nebraska and Iowa opening for national acts such as Chuck Mangione, The Charlie Daniels Band, and Restless Heart. Steve formed Bases Loaded in 2011 and was inducted into the Nebraska Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018. The following year his wife Lori was inducted into the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Steve has worked at Yandas Music in Kearney for over 30 years.

The community is encouraged to come to the Weight Buffet on Saturday night, enjoy the evening, and say hi to Steve. Steve has a lot of personality and tells those along his way that he enjoys long walks on the beach and pina coladas. When he grows up he plans to be a brain surgeon and tap dancer so he can help the world from head to toe.
