From Mutton Bustn’ to Rodeo Queen

Hitchcock County fifth grader Ellah Baker was crowned the Rodeo Champions of America Nebraska 2024 Little Miss this summer.

Meet Ellah Baker. This dynamic young lady is the 10-year-old daughter of Christopher and Sabrina Baker. She aspires to become a veterinarian when she grows up. She lives in rural Palisade on her family’s homestead with her parents, two brothers, and little sister. She is a fifth grader at Hitchcock County Elementary School in Culbertson. If you visit with this young lady for a few minutes, you might be surprised that she is only in fifth grade. She is very articulate and poised for a young lady of her age.

Ellah is an active member of 4-H, showing her many animals; when she is not spending time with her animals on the farm or doing chores, you can find her playing her violin. Ellah also enjoys playing various sports with her friends and teammates in and out of school. She fell in love with the sport of rodeo while competing in Mutton Busting events a few years ago, including the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

Ellah was crowned the Rodeo Champions of America Nebraska 2024 Little Miss this summer. The competition took place in the Nebraska Sandhills in a town called Norden. This Little Miss enjoys riding horses and says they have two – Clover and Hank.  Ellah says it’s been a family event, and they traveled quite a bit this summer, going to different rodeos. She is particularly grateful for her brother’s help when it comes to putting on her chaps. They have all kinds of buckles, and her brothers help her get them on when she is in a hurry.

Ellah enjoys the duties that come along with the Little Miss title. It is a civic-minded organization. The Rodeo Champions of America organization is founded on honesty and integrity. Promoting the rodeo way of life in and out of the rodeo arena, developing young aspiring Rodeo Royalty, by supporting our Veterans, Cancer Awareness, Children’s Hospitals and other charities that may need our support.

The Royalty Courts represent at local rodeos in many States across America. The girls work hard to represent The Rodeo Champions of America and do it cheerfully with a big rodeo smile.

Congratulations Ellah, your community is very proud of your accomplishments!
