Rex Arnold Steinbrink, 94 of Kearney passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney. Visitation will be held 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, with military honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team and North Platte Honors Team. Rex was born September 23, 1930 in Eustis, to George and Ethel (Taylor) Steinbrink. He attended country school south of Eustis and later Loomis High School, graduating with the class of 1949. Rex proudly served in the U.S. Navy from June of 1951 until his honorable discharge in May of 1955. On March 21, 1953, Rex was united in marriage to Twyla Jordan at the United Methodist Church in Kearney. The union was blessed with seven children. In 1961, the family moved to the Trenton, community where Rex worked at the elevator and later in seed and feed sales. His passion was restoring antique horse-drawn wagons and buggies. Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Connie (Tom) Bryant of Wayne, OK, Diane Dailey (Mark Martin) of Chattanooga, TN, son in law, Richard Higley of Grand Junction, CO; Rodney (Kim) Steinbrink of Scott City, KS, Carol (Rick) Brown of Kearney, Richard (Judy) Steinbrink of Garden City, KS, and Larry (Kathy) Steinbrink of North Platte; brother, Paul Steinbrink of Kearney; sister-in-law, Jean Jordan of Lincoln; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends. Rex was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twyla Steinbrink; daughter, Janet Higley; daughter in law, Bonnie Steinbrink; son in law, Kurt Dailey; and great grandson, Quinlan Rex Stevens; great great grandson Oliver Forbes; brothers and their spouses, Lloyd (June) Steinbrink, Eldon (Pauline) Steinbrink, Roger Steinbrink; sisters and spouses Betty (Pat) Klepper and Thelma (Bill) Schultz; sister-in-law, Minnette Steinbrink.
