Richard (Dick) Confer passed away March 31, 2025. Dick was born Sept. 2, 1935 to Claude Welcome Confer and Esther Charlotte (Brown) Confer. He attended school in Trenton. After graduation, he attended McCook Community College where he was active in wrestling and football. Dick was first employed with the railroad, and then he was hired by Lincoln Telephone Company where he was employed for 42 years. After retirement, Dick became a school bus driver. Dick judged 4-H and horse competitions at the Nebraska State Fair at the Lincoln Lancaster Event Center. He was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was a true Nebraska football fan, where he held season tickets for many years. Dick is proceeded in death by his parents, Claude Welcome and Esther (Brown) Confer; wife Dorothy (Cookie) Confer; son Dirk Louis Murphy; and his loyal canine companion Bobby Confer. His is survived by his children, Monica (Kevin) Fisher, Dorinda Wehde, Richard Confer II, and Robyn Confer; step-daughter Denise (Steve) Rodenburg; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one arriving in the Fall. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1411 M Street, Lincoln.
