Linda was the daughter of Hubert and Helen Haines, she was born March 17, 1955 in Imperial and quietly slipped from this life on October 19, 2025, at the age of 70 years. As a child growing up in Dundy County, she was active in 4-H, participating in sewing, cooking and calf club. She had an excellent voice and sang in the school choir. Linda graduated from Benkelman High School in 1973 and continued her education to become a LPN. She was a nurse that loved and cared for her patients. In June 1982 she was united in marriage to Jim Welsh in Omaha, through this union they were blessed with two children, Patrick and Sylvia and numerous foster children. Later Linda met and married Ron Sorensen in May 2012, they made their home in Bellevue and were happy and enjoyed their time together. Linda enjoyed baking and cake decorating, she made many wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes. Her wedding cakes were a work of art, she gave many of the cakes as gifts. She also enjoyed knitting, crafting and coming to Benkelman to visit family and friends. Linda was passionate about genealogy, she had done extensive research on both sides of her family, the Haines’ and the Ellis’. Linda’s greatest joy was playing with her grandchildren. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, son Patrick Welsh, brother Dan Haines, grandparents Rolly and Maude Haines and Dan and Cynthia Ellis. Linda is survived by her loving husband Ron, of Bellevue, daughter Sylvia of Benkelman, brother Kenny (Francie) Haines of Benkelman, grandchildren, Seth, Ian and Kora of Omaha and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held October 31, 2025 at Dream City Church in Omaha. Linda’s wishes were that she be cremated and her ashes be spread at the Sorensen family farm. Friends and family will greatly miss Linda’s love and her smile.
