No monies were transferred from the Inheritance Tax account.
Opening a part-time Class A Road Superintendent to primarily assist with state and federal paperwork was discussed. Motion made by Chairman Tecker to open and advertise the position, seconded by Commissioner Richard. Ayes: unanimous. Commissioner Keiser will prepare an ad to be posted by the clerk’s office.
Commissioners looked over proposed changes to road maintenance routes. Those changes include moving Ave 330 from District 3 to District 1 and for District 1 to cover Ave 339 and the golf course road. Commissioners will take proposals to their district shops to discuss them with road employees and bring feedback for next meeting.
Road Department truck lease was briefly discussed amongst the commissioners. Commissioner Keiser has been working on getting a bid from Bruckner’s and will work on a bid with another vendor. There was a brief update on new employees and whether a part-time summer mowing position was needed. Commissioners decided to place ad for a summer mowing position.
Assessor Tish Burrell presented a Tax List correction. There was a garage that was showing on two properties. She discerned which property the garage should go with and presented changes to the commissioners. Commissioner Keiser made a motion to make the correction for 2025 tax list #802, seconded by Chairman Tecker. Ayes: Unanimous
Larry Wiese submitted a bid for tree trimming to the clerk’s office to trim the evergreens in front of the courthouse. The commissioners felt another bid was necessary and Andrew’s Landscaping/Mowing was suggested. Chairman Tecker called Mr. Haldeen during the meeting to inquire his interest in the task, which Mr. Haldeen is interested in. A time will be set up for Wiese and Haldeen to go over the work needed.
County Attorney notes were presented by Karen Baker as Arlan Wine was not present at the meeting. The Catastrophic Illness Donation Policy changes from the previous meeting were made and emailed to department heads but seem to have gotten lost in delivery, so Ms. Baker will be emailing them out again. She gave an update on the Jail Agreement with Red Willow County and Sheriff Bang said he had signed it and returned it to the Red Willow Sheriff’s Department. The Region 51 Emergency Management agreement was discussed. Chairman Tecker said he felt that the Haigler Village Board was going to give their approval, while the Benkelman City Council is meeting tonight. After approval, it is planned that this agreement will be revisited in the year 2030.
Sheriff Bang gave his sheriff’s report for the commissioners. The 911 project is well underway with one dispatch station set up and hopes the second station will be up soon. The project is approximately one week behind on the schedule he was hoping for. He is expecting the jail to be up and running again in the next week or so. With the digitization of many documents, there are five filing cabinets that are no longer necessary in the department. Bang requested permission to donate 2-3 of the filing cabinets to the Sarah Ann Hester Home as they are non-profit. Commissioner Keiser told him that he would need to fill out a surplus form to be able to donate them. Sheriff Bang also discussed ownership of the land at the springs where the historical sign is affixed. Ms. Burrell said that the strip of land is located in the county’s right-of-way. Commissioner Keiser will get a damage estimate for the insurance claim.
With no further business, Chairman Tecker adjourned the meeting at 9:41 AM. The next meeting is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at 8:30 A.M. in the Commissioners Room.
These minutes are not the official record and may be corrected. A copy of the approved minutes is available to The Public in the Dundy County Clerk’s Office. Any resolutions contained herein are available for viewing at the Dundy County Clerk’s Office.
