VILLAGE OF TRENTON BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETING

5:30 PM – Tuesday, June 9, 2026 – Village Office

Notice of the Regular Board Meeting was posted at the Village Office, Community First Bank, and the Post Office on June 1, 2026.  The Board of Trustees Meeting of the Village of Trenton was called to order on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at 5:30 PM, in the Village Office, with the following members present: BOARD MEMBER PRESENT: Hodges, McDonald, Eldridge, Swanson. BOARD MEMBER ABSENT: NONE. STAFF PRESENT: Mackley, Aneas, Miller.  Chairman McDonald opened the Regular Meeting at 5:30 PM and made the Open Meetings Act announcement, stating that the poster is on the wall for all to view.  Roll Call – Hodges, Swanson, Eldridge, McDonald  Citizen Forum- none.  Motion Hodges to approve the agenda for the June 9th, 2026, Regular Board of Trustees Meeting seconded by Swanson. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion Hodges to approve the April 14th, 2026, Regular Meeting minutes, seconded by Swanson. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion Eldridge to approve May Treasurers Report, seconded by Hodges. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Attorney Schroeder- Discussion had about handbook amendment and PTO policy  Ordinances/Resolutions- Trash resolution discussed  Ordinance #880 introduced by Hodges AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF TRENTON, NEBRASKA, TO AMEND SECTION 3-507 OF ARTICLE THREE, CHAPTER FIVE, OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF TRENTON, NEBRASKA, RELATING TO THE EXPENSE OF PROVIDING WATER SERVICE IN THE MUNICIPALITY, AND TO REPEAL SAID ORIGINAL SECTION.  Motion by Hodges seconded by McDonald to suspend that statutory reading of the ordinance on three (3) separate days. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion by Hodges seconded by Eldridge to pass and adopt Ordinance #880 on final reading. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion by Hodges seconded by Swanson to publish Ordinance #880 in pamphlet form. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Reports of officers – pool has been drained and treated for mosquitos  Library- new hours starting July 1, Wednesday 12-5 Thursday 2-7 Saturday 9-1  Maintenance- pressure tank for north end of town has a hole, engineering will need to be done for permanent fix. The sewer jetter isn’t holding pressure need to fix or replace. Trash barn doors are fixed, inventory to be done on trash cans and rollouts, paving bids for from West C to West D.  Village Clerk- meter readings June 22-24, no interest in vacant property registry at this time, budget workshop to be held July 21, 5:00 in Village Office. Introduction of Brownfield program help with property abatement. Haying bids for the wells now being accepted. Website rebuilding discussion.  Unfinished business – Pool repair pricing still being bid, new swing for the park ordered but hasn’t shipped.  Motion McDonald for K. Anderson’s wages to be $16.50 beginning June 15, 2026 seconded by Eldridge. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  New Business-  Motion Eldridge for D. Anderson’s wages to be $21.00 beginning June 15, 2026 seconded by McDonald. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion Swanson for Aneas wages to $21.00 seconded by McDonald. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Motion Hodges August 1 to be community Keno day seconded by Swanson. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.  Discussion for extra payments on BOK loan, discussion about shade at the ball field, nuisance properties reviewed,  Motion Hodges to adjourn at 7:28 PM, seconded by Eldridge. Ayes: 4. Motion carried.
