VILLAGE OF CULBERTSON BOARD OF TRUSTEES JUNE 2, 2026
A Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Culbertson, Nebraska, was held in the said Village Office at 7:00 pm. Chairman Erdman presided over the meeting. Trustees Hauxwell, Bauer, Cooper and Kolbet were present. Clerk and attorney were present. Guests present were David and Shawntah McKain, Ron and Connie Barger, Sandy Titus, Scott Clifford, and Paul Nichols. Motion was made by Kolbet and seconded by Bauer to approve the minutes of May 5, 2026, May 11 , 2026, and May 18, 2026, with corrections noted in the May minutes. All ayes, motion carried. Motion was made by Cooper and seconded by Kolbet to approve the agenda. All ayes, motion carried. The Open Meeting Act was noted and posted for all to view. The Board discussed nuisance properties. The property owners gave the board an update on the progress they are making on the property at 808 Wyoming. The board agreed to give them 30 days to remove the rest of the unlicensed vehicles. The Board further discussed nuisance properties at 302 Kleven, 508 Kleven, 210 Wyoming, and 408 Davenport. The board instructed the clerk as to which ordinances were in violation on each property and advised her to send certified letters. Public Hearing on these properties will be held prior to the Regular Board meeting in July. Motion was made by Cooper and seconded by Hauxwell to approve the SDL and the street closing of Taylor at Wyoming extending fifty (50) feet to the north. All ayes, motion carried. The Board discussed the storm drainage that runs on the east side of the County Shop. They were seeking the advice of Hitchcock County Commissioner Paul Nichols. A committee of board members and residents were appointed to research plans and costs to repairs need and report back to the Board. The Board discussed curb grinding at the request of a few residents. It was determined that these kinds of projects will be handled with a building permit. Motion was made by Cooper and seconded by Hauxwell to approve the building permit for 706 Railroad Ave. All ayes, motion carried. Motion was made by Cooper and seconded by Bauer to approve the building permit for 511 Kleven. Ayes were Kolbet, Bauer, Hauxwell, and Cooper. Erdman abstained. Motion carried. The Board discussed the electrical repairs and upgrades needed to the Museum. Ron Bauer addressed the Board regarding a Clean-Up Program offered by America 250 Nebraska. It was decided that there would be bags, buckets, and pickers available at the Village Office. Clean-up dates were set to be June 13 and 14 with the Board Members picking up the full bags on June 15, 2026. Motion was made by Cooper and seconded by Hauxwell to approve the following claims; All ayes, motion carried.
